Broholmer
The Broholmer is a very old Danish dog breed of the Molosser/Mastiff type. The Broholmer is a
family and guard dog with many of the traits that characterize a livestock herder and
farm dog, which means it should have a herd instinct, be curious, alert, fearless, and
possess a guarding instinct. It is not a one-person dog, but rather cares for the entire family and all
pets in the household. The Broholmer is excellent with children.
The Broholmer should be good-natured, calm, steady, and sociable; despite its guarding instinct, it must not behave aggressively. It asserts its authority through its voice and size
without resorting to its teeth.
The Broholmer has a short coat and comes in three colors: red-and-yellow, yellow with black markings, and black.
Males should be about 75 centimeters tall and weigh 50 to 70 kilograms. Females should be about 70 centimeters tall and weigh 40 to 60 kilograms.
